Methix Acceptable Use Policy

Methix exists to help independent musicians build real careers. This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") sets out what you can and can't do on the Service, so that Methix stays useful, safe, and respectful for everyone.

This AUP is part of our Terms of Service. If you break this AUP, we may remove your content, suspend your account, or terminate it.

You agree NOT to:

1. Upload content you don't have the right to share

This is the biggest one for a music platform. When you upload a track, post in Community, or share any other content on Methix, you must own it or have permission to share it. That includes:

  • The music itself — your vocal, the instrumental, every sample, every loop. If you used a beat, you must have the license or producer's permission to upload it. If you used a sample, you must have cleared it.
  • Any images, video, or text you upload — your photos, your words, your artwork.

If you don't own it, don't upload it. If we receive a credible claim that your content infringes someone else's rights, we will remove it and may suspend your account.

2. Use Methix for anything illegal

You may not use the Service to commit, plan, or assist in any illegal activity, including:

  • Distributing pirated music or other infringing content
  • Money laundering, fraud, or evading taxes
  • Violating anyone's privacy
  • Anything that violates the laws of the United States or the jurisdiction you are using Methix from

3. Harm, harass, or impersonate other people

The Methix Community is for artists who want to grow together. We don't tolerate:

  • Harassment, threats, hate speech, bullying, or targeted attacks
  • Discrimination based on race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or any other protected characteristic
  • Doxxing or sharing someone else's private information without consent
  • Impersonating another person, brand, or organization (including Methix staff)
  • Posting sexually explicit content, graphic violence, or content involving minors in any inappropriate context

4. Take or repurpose other Methix users' work

Methix is a community of independent artists who trust each other with their music, ideas, and conversations. Treat other users' content with the same respect you'd want for your own.

You may not:

  • Copy, redistribute, screenshot-and-share outside the platform, or otherwise take another user's music, lyrics, posts, comments, photos, bio, or profile content without their explicit permission.
  • Pass off another user's work, ideas, or insights as your own — whether that's a song you heard in a Studio session, a marketing tactic shared in Community, a connection someone mentioned in a comment, or an artistic direction someone described.
  • Use a Studio submission for any purpose beyond giving feedback in that session — no downloading for personal listening, no reposting, no using stems in your own work, no commercial use, no sharing the file with anyone outside the session.
  • Contact other Methix users for unsolicited commercial pitches — MLM, paid courses, recruitment to unrelated services. Methix is a community, not a recruitment ground.
  • Solicit specific artists you met on Methix outside the platform for opportunities you didn't disclose on Methix. If you want to work with someone you met here, that's wonderful — keep the conversation honest about how you connected and what you're proposing.

If another artist shares something with you — an idea pitched in Community, feedback offered in Studio, or a connection mentioned in a comment — treat it as theirs until they explicitly invite you to build on it. When in doubt, ask. When you use someone else's insight, credit them.

Violations of this section are serious. Repeated violations result in permanent account termination, and we may share the violator's identity with the artist whose work was taken if asked.

5. Spam or abuse other users

  • Don't post repetitive, off-topic, or commercial spam in Community
  • Don't message other users (where messaging is available) for unrelated commercial purposes
  • Don't run promotional campaigns, MLM pitches, or solicitations through Methix

6. Try to break the Service

Don't:

  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract our source code
  • Scrape, crawl, or harvest data from the Service in bulk
  • Use automated tools (bots, scripts) to interact with the Service in ways not intended by the user interface
  • Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service without our written permission
  • Interfere with other users' ability to use the Service
  • Bypass any access controls, rate limits, or security measures

7. Misuse Arna

You may not:

  • Attempt to make Arna produce harmful, illegal, hateful, or sexually explicit content
  • Use prompts designed to extract Methix's underlying knowledge library, system instructions, or confidential information
  • Use Arna to generate content that infringes third-party intellectual property
  • Use Arna's outputs to train competing AI systems

If you ask Arna a question and her answer surprises you in a bad way (factually wrong, off-tone, inappropriate), please report it to hello@mymethix.com — that's how we improve.

8. Misrepresent your identity or your music

  • Don't create fake accounts
  • Don't claim authorship of someone else's music or content
  • Don't manipulate engagement (fake reactions, fake submissions, bought followers)

9. Resell or commercialize the Service

The Service is for your personal music career development. You may not:

  • Resell, sublicense, or rebrand Methix's content, software, or features
  • Use Methix as a service-provider to your own clients (e.g., a manager running 50 artists through one account)
  • Use Methix to compete with Methix

What happens if you violate this AUP

Depending on the seriousness of the violation, we may:

  1. Warn you and ask you to fix the issue
  2. Remove the offending content from the Service
  3. Temporarily suspend your account
  4. Permanently terminate your account
  5. Report the conduct to law enforcement if it involves illegal activity

We try to be reasonable and proportionate. A first-time, minor mistake will usually get a warning. Repeated or serious violations will not.

For serious violations (illegal activity, infringement claims with strong evidence, threats to other users), we may act immediately without warning.

Reporting violations

If you see content or behavior on Methix that violates this AUP, please report it to hello@mymethix.com. Include:

  • What you saw (a description, a link, or a screenshot)
  • Where you saw it (Community post, Studio session, profile, etc.)
  • Why you think it violates the AUP

We review every report. We will not share your identity with the person you reported unless we are legally required to.

Intellectual property infringement (DMCA)

If you believe your copyrighted work has been infringed on Methix, send a notice to hello@mymethix.com with:

  • A description of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed
  • The location of the infringing content on Methix (URL or description)
  • Your contact information
  • A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized
  • A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf
  • Your physical or electronic signature

We will investigate and act in accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).

Changes to this AUP

We may update this AUP from time to time. If we make a material change, we will notify you (for example, by email or through the Service). The "Last updated" date reflects the most recent change.
